Current President: Tori Larson
Previous President: Daniel Diedrich
Previous President: Daniel Diedrich
The duties of the Churchill President:
• Keep the group’s focus on the ultimate purpose to honor and glorify God in everything done and said and to keep Christ first. Remember Churchill’s vision and mission’s statement. Live it out by example as well. Be willing to take the lead by example. Nothing is easy but God’s grace is sufficient. You are accountable to God for how you help in leading group Churchill. Be a Godly encourager This is for everyone to realize and put into practice. This is the first point because our relationship with Christ and character is of utmost importance.
• Responsible for getting the whole group on board to strive for the ultimate goal by communicating often to the entire group on competition and group-related material. Confusion in the group could indicate poor leadership- don't let this happen. But also be mindful of group members' requests.
• Responsible for communicating with the other leaders in your group, working as a team while making sure everyone is on the same page and there is no confusion, and sound-boarding ideas off of each other.
• Develops strategies and plans for the group for short-term as well as long-term.
o A plan from this year: President 2 letters per month, VP 1 letter on the third week as well as Secret Sabotage Thursday reminders, Male and Female Spirit Leader 1 letter a month to guys and girls respectively, Quartermaster 1 letter at the beginning of the month, Historian 1 letter after monthly (or quartely) website updates in archives, Sergeant of Arms 1 letter per month if necessary in regards to group website (President needs to work with SoA in regards with the website.).
• Contact the monthly challenge leaders personally right before their month’s challenge begins as a heads-up or even start the thread if they have not been able to get around to doing it yet.
• Then, before the deadline for submitting the month’s challenge, it would be a good thing to get in contact with your challenge leader as a reminder that they will need to submit the results to the moderator (unless somehow previously arranged). This is recommended from my personal experience as my failure to communicate led to this happening. So take it as you wish and however you wish.
• Submit (and help recruit) your monthly challenge leaders to the moderator before the deadline.
• Write 2 letters per month to the group. Some helpful tips if stuck: the ongoing competitions, special competitions, points updates, reviewing the past, looking to the future, evaluating the other groups, the spiritual vision, Scriptural encouragement,etc...
• It is strongly recommended for presidents to have a Skype account and be a part of the Churchill Skype Group- this is where a lot of the group discussion goes on with a number of members. Of course, nothing is mandatory, but this is very helpful and fosters open communication with the president- rather than being distant from the group. This is used for the monthly group calls (planning, etc.), discussing group-related material, and a variety of discussion. Be sure to communicate to the rest of the group that does not have Skype what is being talked about so that everyone is on the same page in unison (i.e. the bi-weekly letters to the group). Communication is very important.
